Symbioflor® Enterococcus drops are an over-the-counter medicine and are used for recurring infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract, especially inflammation of the sinuses (sinusitis) and bronchi (bronchitis).
Recurrent infections are a sign of a weakened immune system. As a large proportion of immune cells are located in our intestines, healthy intestinal flora is important for our body's own defence system. Enterococcus faecalis bacteria are living bacteria that have a favourable influence on the immune system.
Symbioflor® Enterococcus drops help to reduce the frequency of relapses of infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract, especially the sinuses and bronchi.
Symbioflor® contains the bacterium Enterococcus faecalis, which is also present in the natural intestinal flora.
Dosage form

Directions for use
- Adults: 30 drops 3 times daily.
- Children and adolescents: adjust accordingly, e.g. 20 drops 3 times a day.
- Keep the drops in your mouth for approx. one minute and gargle with them before swallowing. Take in the morning after getting up, at lunchtime before eating and in the evening before going to bed.
- The duration of use depends on the nature of the illness and can be up to 6 months in the case of chronic infections. Do not take Symbioflor Enterococcus for longer than 6 months without medical advice.
Ingredients
- The active ingredient is: Bacterial culture (1.0 ml) with Enterococcus faecalis bacteria (DSM 16440, cells and autolysate) corresponding to 1.5 to 4.5 x 107 living cells. 1 ml = 12 drops.
- Other ingredients: Lactose monohydrate, L-cystine, sodium carbonate decahydrate, sodium chloride, magnesium sulphate heptahydrate, potassium chloride, calcium chloride dihydrate, magnesium chloride hexahydrate, standard I nutrient broth (peptone [from casein], yeast dry extract, sodium chloride, glucose monohydrate) and purified water.
