Livostin – Nasal Spray contains levocabastine, a fast-acting antihistamine (which blocks the body’s own neurotransmitter histamine, which is responsible for allergic reactions). Its relatively long-lasting effect means that twice-daily use is sufficient. The typical symptoms of allergic rhinitis disappear almost immediately after use, and the effect lasts for several hours.
Indications
- Symptoms of allergic rhinitis (sneezing, an itchy nose and a runny nose).
LIVOSTIN – Nasal Spray is used in adults, children and adolescents aged 8 years and over. If you do not feel better or actually feel worse after 3 days, consult your doctor.

Dosage:
- Adults, adolescents and children aged 8 years and over: 2 sprays into each nostril, twice daily. This dose may be increased to 2 sprays 3–4 times daily.
- Children under 8 years of age: The efficacy and safety of Livostin nasal spray have not been established in children under 8 years of age. Therefore, its use in this age group is not recommended.
Method of use:
For nasal use. To be sprayed into the nose.
- Shake the bottle well before removing the protective cap.
- Before first use, remove the protective cap and press the spray pump until a fine spray is released. The spray is now ready for further use.
- Clear the nasal passages before use.
- Hold the bottle as shown in the illustration. Tilt your head slightly forwards. Close one nostril and insert the spray nozzle of the fine-dose dispenser into the other nostril.
- Press the spray mechanism firmly twice. Breathe in through your nose whilst spraying.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the other nostril. For hygiene reasons and to prevent infections, each metered-dose spray must only ever be used by one and the same person.
Duration of treatment:
Optimal and successful treatment of allergic conditions requires both an initial diagnosis and regular check-ups by a doctor. Livostin Nasal Spray should therefore not be used for longer than 2 weeks without a doctor’s prescription. If, after this time, the symptoms have not been sufficiently relieved, you should consult your doctor to determine the exact cause.
On prescription from a doctor, Livostin nasal spray may also be used for longer than 2 weeks. In this case, it should not be used for longer than 3 months when used regularly.
Ingredients
The active ingredient is: levocabastine hydrochloride. 1 ml contains levocabastine hydrochloride equivalent to 0.5 mg of levocabastine. 1 spray contains approximately 0.05 mg of levocabastine. The other ingredients are: benzalkonium chloride, propylene glycol, sodium monohydrogen phosphate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate, hypromellose, polysorbate 80, disodium edetate, purified water.
