Livostin® eye drops, 4 ML

Livostin eye drops contain levocabastine, a fast-acting antihistamine (which blocks the body’s own neurotransmitter histamine, which is responsible for allergic reactions). Its relatively long-lasting effect means that twice-daily application is sufficient. The typical symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis disappear almost immediately after application, and the effect lasts for several hours.

Indications

• Symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis (itching, redness, swelling of the conjunctiva and eyelids, watery eyes).

Dosage:

• Adults, adolescents and children aged 8 years and over: 1 drop of Livostin eye drops in each eye, twice daily. In cases of severe symptoms, the medication may be used up to 3–4 times a day.
• Children under 8 years of age: The efficacy and safety of Livostin eye drops have not been established in children under 8 years of age. Therefore, use in this age group is not recommended.

Method of administration:

For use in the eye. Instil into the conjunctival sac.

1. Wash your hands thoroughly before use.
2. Avoid contact between the tip of the bottle and the eye or eyelid to prevent contamination of the remaining liquid.
3. Shake the bottle well before removing the screw cap.
4. Tilt your head back as far as possible.
5. Squeeze the bottle and carefully instil one drop into the inner corner of the eye. Keep your head tilted back and pull down your lower eyelid so that the drop can reach the lower part of the eye. You will automatically blink, which will spread the drop over the whole eye.
6. Repeat this process for the other eye.

Duration of treatment:

Optimal and successful treatment of allergic conditions requires both an initial diagnosis and regular check-ups by a doctor.

Livostin eye drops should therefore not be used for longer than 2 weeks without a doctor’s prescription. If, after this time, the symptoms have not been sufficiently relieved, you should consult your doctor to determine the exact cause. However, if the symptoms worsen or remain the same, you should see a doctor within three days at the latest. On prescription from a doctor, Livostin eye drops may also be used for longer than 2 weeks. In this case, they should not be used for longer than 3 months when used regularly.

Ingredients

The active ingredient is: levocabastine hydrochloride. 1 ml contains levocabastine hydrochloride equivalent to 0.5 mg of levocabastine. 1 drop contains approximately 0.015 mg of levocabastine (1 ml = 33 drops). The other ingredients are: benzalkonium chloride, propylene glycol, sodium monohydrogen phosphate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate, hypromellose, polysorbate 80, disodium edetate, water for injections.
