Areas of application
GeloMuc® is a respiratory therapy device for mobilising stuck, viscous bronchial mucus (also in constricted airways), e.g. in patients with chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive bronchitis (COPD), bronchial asthma, pulmonary emphysema, bronchiectasis or cystic fibrosis.
The use of GeloMuc® creates positive pressure in the bronchi, which prevents the airways from collapsing deep into the branches. Unstable airways are usually "squeezed shut" by the increased pressure when coughing, so that mucus cannot be coughed up.
GeloMuc® makes the bronchial tubes vibrate
- Removes bronchial mucus
- Reduces the urge to cough
- Opens the airways
The vibrations of the intrabronchial pressure and the exhaled air caused by exhalation cause the bronchial tubes to vibrate, so that the mucus can be loosened from the bronchial walls and transported more easily towards the mouth. Long-term, regular use also improves lung function.

How to use
- To ensure optimum therapy, we recommend that you sit at atable. Relax and rest your elbows on the table top. Take GeloMuc in your hand and make sure that the holes in the head sectionare not covered.
- Place the mouthpiece in your mouth and inhaledeeply through yournose in a slow and relaxed manner.Hold your breath for a moment (1 - 2 seconds).
- Breathe out slowly and deeply through your mouth into the GeloMuc. Try not to"puff out your cheeks", but to keep them taut by tensing your muscles.
- Keep the GeloMuc in your mouth, breathe in again through your nose and hold yourbreath briefly (1 - 2 seconds). Then breathe out again slowly and for as long as possible through the device. Repeat this inhalation and exhalation for some time. Avoid rapid and strained breathing.
- Checking correct use: The GeloMuc is being used correctly when you feel a clear, palpitating vibration in your chest .It may be necessary to raise or lower the GeloMuc slightly to find the ideal position.
- Coughing stimulus: When a coughing stimulus occurs, you should try to "huff" the mucus .This technique ("huffing") helps you to avoid strained coughing, which makes it more difficult to clear the mucus from the constricted bronchial tubes. When huffing, imagine you are breathing on a disc. You will find that you can clearthe mucus much better this way than by coughing.
