What is COLDAMARIS protect?

COLDAMARIS protect eye drops are a viscous, preservative-free, sterile solution with iota-carrageenan (Carragelose®), which forms a moisturising protective barrier on the surface of the eye. COLDAMARIS protect is a medical device for relieving the symptoms of dry eyes.

COLDAMARIS protect does not contain any preservatives. The special sterile filter system of the OSD dropper attachment guarantees the sterility of the solution even after repeated use.

What is the function of COLDAMARIS protect?

In order to restore and maintain a healthy ocular surface, the cornea and conjunctiva must be kept moisturised at all times. Ideally, this function is fulfilled by the tear film.

Symptoms of dry eyes such as redness, itching, foreign body sensation, burning or acute fatigue occur when normal tears are of poor quality or tear production is too low. These symptoms of an inadequate supply of physiological tears can occur in dry or air-conditioned rooms, as a result of surgical procedures or in old age. The symptoms described can also be caused by slight irritation of the eye or by wind or sunlight. It is therefore important to keep the surface of the eye sufficiently moisturised to protect it.

The Carragelose® contained in COLDAMARIS protect forms an even, stable and long-lasting moisturising film on the surface of the eye. Due to the increased viscosity compared to aqueous solutions, COLDAMARIS protect remains on the surface of the eye for longer. This helps to restore the eye's natural moisture balance, prolongs the moisturising effect and protects against excessive tear evaporation.

Indications - When should you use COLDAMARIS protect?

COLDAMARIS protect is used to moisturise the eyes to prevent irritation and relieve dryness of the eye.

COLDAMARIS protect is suitable for use in adults and children from 6 years of age. COLDAMARIS protect acts locally and is not absorbed by the body, so the product can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

How to use

At the first signs of irritation (burning, discomfort, dryness), one drop should be instilled into each eye at least three times a day. If necessary, COLDAMARIS protect can be used up to 8 times a day.

Start treatment as soon as possible after the first symptoms appear and continue until the symptoms have subsided. If your symptoms persist or worsen, you should always consult a doctor.

• Wash and dry your hands well before use.
• Remove contact lenses before using the product and do not reinsert them for at least 15 minutes after dripping.
• Remove the safety ring completely before first use.
• Remove the cap.
• Tilt your head back slightly, look up and pull the lower eyelid slightly away from the eye to form a small pocket between the eyelid and the eye.
• Hold the bottle with the dropper opening facing downwards and steadily increase the pressure on the bottle until a drop is formed, which you then drop into the pocket between the eyelid and the eye.
• Close your eyes slowly so that the liquid can spread evenly over the surface of the eye.
• Repeat the process for the other eye if necessary.
• Avoid touching the dropper tip with your eye or hands!
• Any remaining drop at the dropper opening should be removed by gently tapping the bottom of the bottle.
• Now put the cap back on the container.
• If the dropper tip is clogged, it can be wiped with a clean cloth or rinsed with clear water to continue using it.

Notes: Allow the drops to act for at least 10 minutes before applying other topical eye preparations. COLDAMARIS protect can be used over a longer period of time. There is no risk of addiction or overdose. Do not use COLDAMARIS protect if you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.

Ingredients

• Composition - 1 ml COLDAMARIS protect contains 3.2 mg iota-carrageenan (Carragelose®).
• The other ingredients are sorbitol, disodium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, citric acid monohydrate, Na-EDTA and purified water. Iota-carrageenan is a substance obtained from red seaweed from the sea.
