The advantages of ibuprofen gel at a glance
Ibuprofen for pain and inflammation is available in various dosage forms, with tablets and gels being the most common. For aching and inflamed muscles and joints, for example in the back, the external, local application of ibuprofen has proved particularly effective.
The advantages of ibuprofen gels such as doc® ibuprofen pain gel over other dosage forms such as tablets can be seen here:
- doc® Ibuprofen Pain Gel is not taken orally, but applied directly. This allows the active ingredient ibuprofen to reach the painful tissue quickly and directly.
- doc® Ibuprofen Pain Gel contains completely dissolved ibuprofen, which is packed in nanometre-sized micelles. This allows the active ingredient to penetrate the top layer of skin easily and particularly quickly.
- doc® Ibuprofen Pain Gel contains an active ingredient that accumulates at the target site - the affected muscles and joints - but not in the blood. The organism is therefore hardly affected.
- In addition, ibuprofen can be stored well in the subcutaneous fatty tissue, which favours a long-lasting effect.

How to use
- The recommended dose is: doc® Ibuprofen pain gel is applied 3 times a day. Depending on the size of the painful area to be treated, a 4 - 10 cm long gel strand corresponding to 2 - 5 g gel (100 - 250 mg ibuprofen) is required. The maximum total daily dose is 15 g gel corresponding to 750 mg ibuprofen.
- Use in children and adolescents doc® Ibuprofen pain gel should not be used in children and adolescents under 14 years of age, as there is insufficient research available for this age group.
- Method of application: For external use only! Do not ingest! doc® Ibuprofen Pain Gel is applied to the skin and lightly rubbed into the skin. Increased penetration of the active ingredient through the skin can be achieved by using iontophoresis (a special form of electrotherapy). In this case, doc® Ibuprofen pain gel should be applied under the cathode (negative pole). The current intensity should be 0.1 - 0.5 mA per 5 cm² electrode surface, the duration of application approx. 10 minutes.
- Duration of application: The duration of treatment is decided by the attending physician. As a rule, application over 2 - 3 weeks is sufficient. The therapeutic benefit of use beyond this period has not been proven. Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of doc® Ibuprofen Pain Gel is too strong or too weak.
