Imodium Akut 2 mg orodispersible tablets are a medicine for diarrhoea and contain the active ingredient loperamide hydrochloride. It is used for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhoea in adolescents aged 12 years and over and adults.
Treatment with loperamide hydrochloride lasting longer than 2 days must only be carried out under a doctor’s prescription and with ongoing medical supervision. If you do not feel any better after 2 days, or if your condition worsens, contact your doctor.

It is used to treat short-term (acute) diarrhoea that cannot be controlled by other
measures (diet, fluid and electrolyte replacement) and where
the use of antibiotics is not indicated.
IMODIUM® Acute 2 mg orodispersible tablets help with acute diarrhoea. No water is required to take them. The orodispersible tablets dissolve on the tongue in a matter of seconds. This is particularly convenient if you are out and about or have difficulty swallowing. With a fresh mint flavour.

Directions for use
- Dosage Adults:Start with 2 orodispersible tablets. Thereafter, if necessary, take 1 orodispersible tablet after each episode of diarrhoea. The maximum dose is 4 tablets per day.
- Dosage for adolescents aged 12 years and over:Initial dose 1 orodispersible tablet and maximum dose 4 orodispersible tablets per day.
- The initial dose should be taken at the start of treatment for acute diarrhoea. Thereafter, a repeat dose should be taken after each loose stool. The recommended maximum daily dose must not be exceeded.
- Children under 12 years of age: Imodium Acute must not be taken by children under 12 years of age.
- Method of administration: For oral use. To remove the orodispersible tablet, completely peel off the foil strip on the back of the blister pack. Do not push the orodispersible tablet through the blister pack, as this may damage it. Place Imodium Akut on the tongue. The orodispersible tablet dissolves immediately on the tongue and is swallowed with saliva.
- Duration of use: Do not take Imodium Akut for longer than 2 days without medical advice. If diarrhoea persists after 2 days of treatment with Imodium Akut, stop taking Imodium Akut and consult a doctor. Treatment with medicines containing loperamide for longer than 2 days must only be carried out under a doctor’s prescription and with ongoing medical supervision. Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you feel that the effect of Imodium Akut is too strong or too weak.
Ingredients
- The active ingredient is: loperamide hydrochloride. Each orodispersible tablet contains 2 mg of loperamide hydrochloride.
- The other ingredients are: gelatine, mannitol (Ph. Eur.) (E 421), aspartame (E 951), sodium bicarbonate, peppermint flavouring (contains benzyl alcohol).
