The active ingredients in Thomapyrin – acetylsalicylic acid and paracetamol – have a rapid-onset analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effect. The third active ingredient, caffeine, has been shown to enhance the pain-relieving effect of the combination of acetylsalicylic acid and paracetamol and to alleviate fatigue and tiredness associated with colds.
Thomapyrin is used in adults and adolescents aged 12 to 18 years to relieve:
- headaches (particularly tension-type headaches) and migraine attacks with or without aura
- mild to moderate pain, such as toothache and period pain; and to relieve pain and reduce fever associated with colds and flu-like infections.

Thomapyrin® combines its three active ingredients – ASA, paracetamol and caffeine – in such an ideal way that the pain-relieving effect is enhanced.
But why is that actually the case?
What makes it special is that , unlike many other headache remedies, Thomapyrin® does not contain just one active ingredient, but three that complement each other’s effects.
ASA and paracetamol reinforce each other’s pain-relieving effects, and the caffeine further enhances this effect. This also allows the dose of each individual active ingredient per tablet to be kept as low as possible.
Usage
- Adults and young people aged 15 and over: 1 – 2 tablets up to 3 times a day; a daily dose of 6 tablets (equivalent to 1.5 g of acetylsalicylic acid, 1.2 g of paracetamol and 300 mg of caffeine) must not be exceeded.
- Adolescents aged 12 to 14 years and weighing 30 kg: ½ to 1 tablet up to 3 times a day; a daily dose of 3 tablets (equivalent to 750 mg of acetylsalicylic acid, 600 mg of paracetamol and 150 mg of caffeine) must not be exceeded. There should be an interval of at least 4 hours between doses.
- Method of administration: For oral use. Take the tablets with plenty of liquid, or allow the tablets to dissolve in liquid and then drink plenty of liquid afterwards. The tablet may be divided into equal doses.
- Duration of use: Thomapyrin must not be taken for longer than 3 to 4 days (up to a maximum of 10 days) for pain, and for longer than 3 days for fever, without a doctor’s prescription.
- There should be an interval of at least 4 hours between doses.
Ingredients
- The active ingredients are: 1 tablet contains 250 mg of acetylsalicylic acid, 200 mg of paracetamol and 50 mg of caffeine.
- The other ingredients are: lactose monohydrate, maize starch, stearic acid.
