Aurasin akut contains zolmitriptan. It belongs to a group of medicines known as triptans.

Aurasin akut is prescribed by a doctor following the initial diagnosis of migraine for the acute treatment of the headache phase of migraine attacks, with or without an aura.

Migraine symptoms can be caused by a temporary dilation of the blood vessels in the head. It is thought that zolmitriptan reduces this dilation. This helps to relieve the headache and other symptoms associated with a migraine attack, such as nausea or vomiting and sensitivity to light and sound.
Zolmitriptan is only effective once a migraine attack has already begun. It cannot prevent a migraine attack and must not be taken to prevent migraines.

The most common symptoms of migraine attacks are severe headaches, visual disturbances, severe sensitivity to light and sound, nausea and even vomiting, and speech difficulties.

These symptoms are caused by dilated blood vessels. Zolmitriptan, the active ingredient in Aurasin akut, reduces this dilation and thus helps to relieve both the headache and the other migraine symptoms.

Aurasin akut is taken immediately upon the onset of the pain phase in acute cases.

Directions for use

Take Aurasin Acute only to treat an actual migraine attack and not to prevent migraine attacks or headaches. You can take Aurasin Acute as soon as the migraine attack begins. However, Aurasin Acute remains effective even during the attack.

The usual dose is 1 tablet.
Take the tablet with a glass of water.
If your migraine symptoms return within 24 hours of the first dose taking effect, you may take another tablet. However, there must be at least 2 hours between your first and second tablets.
If your migraine attack does not subside, do not take more than one tablet for the same attack.

If these tablets do not provide sufficient relief during a migraine attack, tell your doctor. Your doctor may increase the dose to 5 mg or change your treatment.

Do not take more than two doses per day. If you are using 2.5 mg tablets, the maximum daily dose is 5 mg. If you have been prescribed 5 mg tablets, the maximum daily dose is 10 mg.

Ingredients

The active ingredient is: zolmitriptan.
1 Aurasin akut 2.5 mg tablet contains 2.5 mg of zolmitriptan.
The other ingredients aremannitol, maltodextrin, microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone type A, sodium bicarbonate, anhydrous citric acid, highly dispersed anhydrous silica, sodium saccharin, magnesium stearate, menthol flavouring (maltodextrin, natural menthol, modified maize starch).
