Teeth good - all good! A beautiful smile is not only a sign of a sunny disposition, the teeth in your mouth are also crucial for a natural and healthy glow. Proper and daily dental care iscrucial for this .

Dental care starts as early as baby and toddler age. As soon as the first tooth comes through, parents can playfully prepare their child for brushing their teeth. Initially, the area of the tooth ledge is lightly cleaned with a soft, lint-free cloth. Later, when the first teeth appear, you should brush your child's teeth with special children's toothbrushes and toothpaste.

The following "rules" apply when it comes to proper dental care for babies:
Brush teeth twice a day from the time the first milk teeth break through, using a baby toothpaste with an age-appropriate fluoride content - the following applies:
  • Baby toothpaste with 500 ppm fluoride: brush twice a day with a pea-sized amount of toothpaste each time
  • Baby toothpaste with 1000 ppm fluoride: brush once a day with a rice grain-sized amount of toothpaste.
From the 2nd birthday, switch to a children's toothpaste with a higher fluoride content (1000 ppm) - use a pea-sized amount twice a day.

Even when children are older and more independent, it makes sense for an adult to brush their teeth, as children are only able to reach the furthest corners of their mouths in late primary school age. From the age of 12, children are then fit enough to take care of their teeth all by themselves.

In general, the following tips apply to keeping the mouth and teeth healthy and well cared for:
  • 2 by 2: Clean yours twice a day for two minutes and pay attention to the spaces between the teeth, these are cleaned quickly and effectively with dental floss.
  • Tongue health: Use a tongue scraper or tongue brush to remove plaque from the tongue - this also helps to prevent unpleasant bad breath.
  • Children and teeth: Children need special children's toothbrushes and toothpastes with a low fluoride content. It is important that an adult brushes your teeth afterwards, as children lack the fine motor skills needed for an optimal brushing technique.
  • Dental cleaning by a professional: Have your teeth and oral cavity checked twice a year as part of a professional oral hygiene programme.
  • At the right time: ideally, you should clean your teeth before breakfast and before going to bed. CAUTION after consuming particularly acidic foods or drinks (fruit juices, citrus fruits, yoghurt, salad with acidic dressing) - you should wait at least 60 minutes before brushing, otherwise the surface layer of tooth substance may be damaged.
  • Everyone eats and is different: Pay attention to a healthy diet and irregular tooth positions. This is where bacteria can settle.
  • Turn duty into pleasure: For many, brushing their teeth every day is a chore. But with a little practice and mindfulness, regular tooth cleaning can be motivating and fun. Keep reminding yourself of your system and name your problem areas out loud, and your concentration will be where it should be. Your teeth will thank you for it!
