Dr. Böhm® Milk Thistle 140 mg capsules are a herbal medicine designed to improve liver function and to provide supportive treatment for symptoms caused by liver dysfunction.

This medicinal treatment is not a substitute for avoiding factors that damage the liver (e.g. alcohol). This medicine is intended for adults aged 18 and over. If you do not feel any better, or if your condition worsens, after 3 weeks, consult your doctor.

When the liver needs help

As a natural detox aid for the liver, Dr Böhm® Milk Thistle contains an optimally dosed milk thistle extract with the detoxifying active ingredient complex silymarin – for supportive treatment of liver complaints, to normalise liver function tests and to aid liver detoxification. The plant-based active ingredients have multiple beneficial effects: they block toxins, thereby making it more difficult for harmful substances to penetrate the body. At the same time, they help cells that have already been damaged to recover. Dr. Böhm® Milk Thistle is particularly suitable for supporting a detox programme or as a natural form of liver protection.

Milk thistle 

Milk thistle was already known as a medicinal plant in ancient times. Since the mid-18th century, it has been used primarily for liver complaints. The fruits of the milk thistle contain a special complex of active ingredients known as silymarin. It prevents harmful substances from entering the liver and helps weakened liver cells to recover. The benefits of milk thistle in cases of toxic liver damage – e.g. caused by alcohol – or virus-related liver damage have been demonstrated by numerous studies.

• Adults: 1 capsule three times a day.
• Use in children and adolescents: Use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age is not recommended due to a lack of data.
• Method of administration: For oral use. The capsules should be swallowed whole with a sufficient amount of liquid. 
• Duration of use: If you do not feel any better, or if you feel worse, after 3 weeks, consult your doctor. In principle, there is no limit to the duration of use.

Ingredients

• 1 hard capsule contains 177.4–240.4 mg of dry extract from milk thistle fruits (Silybi mariani extractum siccum raffinatum et normatum), DEV (Drug-to-Extract Ratio) 21–45:1, extraction solvent 95% v/v acetone, corresponding to 140 mg silymarin (UV-VIS) or 108.2 mg silymarin (HPLC, calculated as silibinin). 
• The other ingredients are: mannitol, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, gelatine, sodium dodecyl sulphate, iron oxides (red, E-172).
