Effective complex of active ingredients

Thyme and senega root have an expectorant effect, facilitate expectoration and have an antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effect.

The ingredients of thyme support and complement the effect and effectiveness of the expectorant component of senega root. This makes TUSSIMONT Cough Syrup particularly effective in the treatment of respiratory diseases with thick mucus and productive coughs.

Active ingredients

• Senega root: The main ingredients of senega root are saponins. These have a secretolytic and expectorant effect due to their local stimulation of the gastric mucosa. This means that they liquefy the bronchial mucus and cause the stuck mucus to be removed by improving expectoration.
• Thyme: The essential thyme oil extracted from the medicinal plant has an antispasmodic effect on the bronchial tubes and promotes expectoration in bronchitis and catarrh of the upper airways. It increases secretion as well as the transport function of the cilia movement (cilia on the mucous membrane) in the bronchi. It also utilises the antibacterial and antiseptic effect of thymol (the main ingredient of the oil), which is effective on inflamed bronchial mucous membranes. This antibacterial effect makes it more difficult for bacteria to multiply. Thyme cleanses the bronchial tubes and relieves the spasmodic contraction of the muscles surrounding the bronchial tubes.

Directions for use

• Adults and adolescents from 12 years of age: In acute cases every 2 - 3 hours, up to 6 times daily 10 ml.
• Children from 6 - 12 years: 5 ml 6 times a day.
• Children from 2 - 6 years: 5 ml 4 times a day.
• When the symptoms subside, the dose is reduced accordingly. TUSSIMONT Cough Syrup is taken undiluted.
• Method of administration: For oral use. TUSSIMONT Cough Syrup is taken undiluted. A measuring cup with scale is included for dosing. Shake before use!
• Duration of use: If you do not feel better or even worse after 7 days, consult your doctor.
• Note for diabetics: 1 coffee spoon (5 ml) corresponds to 0.26 BE.
  

Ingredients

• The active ingredients in 100 g are 10.0 g thyme liquid extract (DEV 1:5-7); extractant ethanol 96 % (V/V) : Water : glycerol 85 % (1:1.3:1) and 3.0 g senega liquid extract (DEV 1:1.3-1.5); extractant ethanol 34.6 % (V/V).
• The other ingredients are Liquid extract of bitter orange peel, sucrose, purified water, ethanol 96 % (V/V), glycerol 85%, simple sugar couleur, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate.
