- The essential minerals magnesium and potassium are indispensable for many metabolic processes in the body and often act synergistically in the organism.
- The "muscle mineral" magnesium activates around 300 enzymes in the body and plays a central role in energy production in the muscle cells, for neuromuscular stimulus transmission and the control of muscle activity. Magnesium also reduces the excitability of the nerves and acts as an excellent stress regulator.
- Potassium is involved in the regulation of the cell's water balance as well as in the transmission of nerve and muscle stimuli and muscle contraction.
- A magnesium deficiency is often the cause of nocturnal calf cramps and painful muscle cramps, muscle tremors (e.g. eyelid tremors), tingling and numbness in the hands, tension in the shoulder and neck area or headaches. Symptoms such as increased susceptibility to stress, irritability, nervousness or palpitations can also be signs of an undersupply.
