Electrolytes are chemical compounds and act as so-called ion conductors. They occur as both positively and negatively charged particles (ions). Important representatives are, for example, calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, phosphate and chloride.

Special features of diarrhœsan® electrolyte

In line with requirements: diarrhœsan® elektrolyt is specially formulated with minerals and glucose to meet the increased need for electrolytes and fluids associated with diarrhoea.
In accordance with the recommendations for paediatricians: The quantity ratio of the ingredients is precisely tailored to the impaired absorption of patients and, like the osmolarity of the prepared ready-to-eat solution, corresponds to the recommendations of paediatric guidelines.

How to use

The contents of one sachet are dissolved in 200 ml of drinking water immediately before use and drunk straight away. The frequency of use depends on individual requirements, usually several times a day or after each liquid bowel movement:

Infants (1 to 3 years): 3 to 5 sachets in 24 hours.
Children from 4 years: 1 sachet after each bowel movement, maximum 8 sachets in 24 hours.
Adolescents and adults: 1 to 2 sachets after each bowel movement.

The individual duration of use depends on the doctor's instructions. For infants it is usually 6-12 hours and should not exceed 24 hours. Children, adolescents and adults: Until the diarrhoea has subsided, maximum 36 hours. If the diarrhoea lasts longer, consult a doctor again.

Ingredients

Ingredients: dextrose monohydrate, maltodextrin, sodium chloride, potassium citrate monohydrate, trisodium citrate dihydrate, blueberry fruit powder, blueberry extract, acidifier: citric acid; flavouring, sweetener: sucralose.
Nutritional declaration per 1 sachet: calorific value 85 kJ / 20 kcal, fat 0 g of which saturated fatty acids 0 g, carbohydrates 4.5 g of which sugar 3.7 g, glucose 3.5 g, protein 0 g, salt 0.69 g, sodium 274 mg, potassium 154 mg, chloride 284 mg.
Concentration of the finished solution: sodium 60 mmol/l, potassium 20 mmol/l, chloride 40 mmol/l, citrate 16 mmol/l, D-glucose 97 mmol/l, osmolarity after preparation: approx. 233 mmol/l.
