TUSSIMONT Cough Tea consists of a mixture of proven medicinal plants (thyme, ribwort plantain, marshmallow and aniseed) that have been used since time immemorial to treat colds. Marshmallow and ribwort contain mucilage, which has a soothing effect. Aniseed and thyme are rich in essential oil, which loosens stuck mucus and makes it easier to cough up. Aniseed and thyme also have an antispasmodic effect.

Active ingredients

• Thyme: The essential thyme oil extracted from the medicinal plant has an antispasmodic effect on the bronchi and promotes expectoration in bronchitis and catarrh of the upper airways. It increases secretion as well as the transport function of the cilia movement (cilia on the mucous membrane) in the bronchi. It also utilises the antibacterial and antiseptic effect of thymol (the main ingredient of the oil), which is effective on inflamed bronchial mucous membranes. This antibacterial effect makes it more difficult for bacteria to multiply. Thyme cleanses the bronchial tubes and relieves the spasmodic contraction of the muscles that surround the bronchial tubes.
• Ribwort plantain: The mucilage it contains relieves irritation caused by tough bronchial catarrh with heavy mucus build-up. The protective effect of the mucilage is utilised, as is the astringent effect of the tannins it contains, which help to reduce the increased secretion. The antibacterial properties of the glycoside aucubin also have a positive effect.
• Marshmallow: The mucilage it contains has a soothing effect by covering the mucous membrane of the throat and bronchial tubes like a protective sheath. This soothes these inflammatory and irritated areas. Marshmallow is used as a gargle for dry irritating coughs and inflammation of the mucous membranes in the mouth and throat.
• Aniseed: The essential oil extracted from the fruit of aniseed, with anethole as its main component, is decisive for its effectiveness. Due to the secretion-promoting and antispasmodic effect of the essential oil, aniseed is administered for respiratory diseases and catarrhs of the airways. Its antibacterial effect is also useful here.

How to use

• Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over: one cup up to 5 times a day.
• Children from 2 - 11 years: one cup up to 3 times a day.
• Preparation: Pour boiling water over 1 tea bag per cup, cover and leave to infuse for at least 5 minutes. The tea can be sweetened with honey, sugar or sweetener according to taste. Drink the tea infusion lukewarm. TUSSIMONT CUSTOMER TEA should always be freshly prepared and consumed within 12 hours.
