SABE sana D-Mannose Cranberry Powder is a dietary supplement containing D-mannose, cranberry extract, vitamin C and zinc, which help to support a healthy immune system and protect sensitive mucous membranes from free radicals.
D-mannose is a simple sugar that is not utilised by the body and passes unchanged into the urinary tract. Bacteria are bound to D-mannose via their filaments (fimbriae) and are therefore unable to attach themselves to the mucous membranes of the bladder and the urinary tract. Together with cranberry compounds, D-mannose helps to flush harmful bacteria out with the urine and prevent inflammation. The cranberry fruit contains proanthocyanidins (PACs) as secondary plant compounds, which can help maintain the health of the urinary tract. Zinc, vitamin C and vitamin D3 support the immune system in fighting off inflammation.
Product benefits of SABE sana D-Mannose Cranberry
- D-mannose and cranberry compounds (proanthocyanidins) can inhibit the colonisation of bacteria on the mucous membranes of the urinary tract
- Zinc, vitamin C and vitamin D3 help the body fight off inflammation
Active ingredients
D-mannose
- a small monosaccharide (= simple sugar), structurally closely related to D-glucose and derived from it
- The source material is maize (non-genetically modified)
- occurs in small quantities in the human body (e.g. on the surface of mucosal cells)
- D-mannose taken orally is not metabolised and passes unchanged into the urinary tract
- binds to the fimbriae of E. coli, thereby preventing their adhesion to the mucosal epithelium -> invasion and infection are prevented
- the bacteria are flushed out with the urine
- Prophylactic use for recurrent urinary tract infections or as a (supportive) treatment for cystitis
Cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon)
- native to North America
- Naturally rich in phytochemicals, particularly proanthocyanidins, flavonoids, triterpenoids, organic acids and vitamin C
- The active constituents may prevent the adhesion of bacteria (uropathogenic E. coli) to the epithelium of the urinary tract
- is used in both single-ingredient and combination preparations for the prevention and adjunctive treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections
