REMOGEN® OMEGA provides the surface of the eye with essential nutrients and sufficient moisture. It also has a soothing, refreshing and wetting effect and stabilises the tear film.

Areas of application

• REMOGEN® OMEGA has a soothing, refreshing and moisturising effect, provides nutrients and moisture and protects the surface of the eye in all types of qualitatively or quantitatively altered or unstable tear film with an accompanying feeling of dryness, burning eyes and similar disorders of the eye. Specifically, it can be used for symptoms and signs of dry eyes and/or damage to the ocular surface as a result of certain diseases, such as superficial keratitis, Sjögren's syndrome or primary dry eye syndrome. For wetting the eyes in case of subjectively perceived dryness as well as burning and tired eyes and other minor discomfort without disease value, caused e.g. by dust, smoke, dry heat, air-conditioned air, wind, cold, prolonged screen work, reduced tear secretion caused by diseases of the immune system or taking medication.
• Due to its protective effect on the epithelium of the cornea and conjunctiva, REMOGEN® OMEGA can be used for all types of eye irritation.

Properties and mode of action

• REMOGEN® OMEGA is a hypotonic microemulsion composed of a micrometric dispersion of lipid molecules (fatty acids and vitamin E, which are also physiological components of tear fluid) in an aqueous medium containing moisturising and soothing substances such as glycerol, polyacrylic acid and acrylate/alkyl acrylate crosspolymer.
• REMOGEN® OMEGA acts on the three layers of the tear film. Specifically, the lipid components of the microemulsion blend into the thin lipid layer of the natural tear film and regenerate it. This restores the physiological state and counteracts excessive evaporation from the aqueous layer. The aqueous components of REMOGEN® OMEGA form a hydrophilic film that adheres to the surface of the eye, binds water, stabilises the tear film and thus protects the epithelium of the cornea and conjunctiva. REMOGEN® OMEGA, a hypotonic microemulsion, also serves to balance the hyperosmolarity of the tear film, which is often associated with an unphysiological condition of the ocular surface. REMOGEN® OMEGA is free from surfactants and preservatives that may damage the ocular surface.

How to use

Unscrew the cap from the single-dose container, tilt the head backwards and hold the dropper opening over the eye to be treated. Pull the lower eyelid of the eye downwards with the index finger of one hand. Gently squeeze the container to release a drop of REMOGEN® OMEGA solution (see illustration). Unless otherwise recommended, drip 1-2 drops of REMOGEN® OMEGA into the eye as required. The solution is distributed by blinking and forms a transparent and durable liquid layer on the surface of the eye. REMOGEN® OMEGA can also be used while wearing hard or soft contact lenses.

Ingredients

1ml solution contains eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) ethyl ester, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) ethyl ester, α-tocopherol acetate (vitamin E), glycerol, polyacrylic acid, acrylates/alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, sodium hydroxide, disodium hydrogenphoshate and water for injection. The microemulsion is hypotonic with a physiological pH value.
