Like caraway, aniseed and fennel, coriander is a plant species from the genus Apiaceae. Coriander fruits contain essential oil as the main component, tannins, vitamin C, sitosterol, protein and fatty oil. Essential oils have bactericidal and fungicidal properties and are used for flatulence and as an antispasmodic.
