Molaxole powder is a non-prescription medicine for the preparation of an oral solution. Molaxole helps you to achieve comfortable bowel movements, even if you have been suffering from constipation for a long time.

Molaxole can also be used, after consultation with your doctor, in the case of persistent constipation with stagnation of faeces in the bowel, known as "coprostasis". Macrogol 3350 increases the volume of faeces by binding water and thus leads to a normalisation of the movement processes of the large intestine. This results in an increased passage of softened faeces and easier defecation. The salts in Molaxole help to maintain the body's salt and water balance.

If you do not feel better or even worse after 2 weeks, consult your doctor. If you are being treated for very persistent constipation (called coprostasis), follow your doctor's instructions.

How to use

The recommended dose for constipation is

Adults: 1 sachet 1 to 3 times daily. The usual dose is 1 to 2 sachets per day. Depending on the individual response, 3 sachets per day may also be required. The dose depends on the severity of the constipation. After a few days, the dose can be reduced to the lowest effective dose. The duration of treatment is usually 2 weeks. If the symptoms persist after 2 weeks, please consult your doctor.
Children (under 12 years): It is not recommended to administer Molaxole to children under 12 years of age.

The recommended dose for faecal stasis (coprostasis) is:

Adults: the usual dose is 8 sachets per day. The dose of 8 sachets should be taken within 6 hours and - depending on requirements - over a period of up to 3 days. The treatment of faecal impaction usually does not last longer than 3 days. If you are taking Molaxole for coprostasis, it may be easier to dissolve all 8 sachets at once in 1 litre of water. This solution can be stored in the refrigerator.
Patients with heart disease: To treat faecal stasis, the dose should be divided so that no more than 2 sachets are taken in an hour.
Patients with impaired renal function: No dose adjustment is necessary for the treatment of constipation or faecal impaction.

Method of administration: Dissolve the contents of one sachet in half a glass of water (about 125ml), stir until the powder is dissolved and drink the solution. If you wish, you can add a fruit juice or fruit syrup before drinking.

Ingredients

What Molaxole contains - The active ingredients are: Macrogol (polyethylene glycol) 3350 13.125 g, sodium chloride 350.7 mg, sodium bicarbonate 178.5 mg, potassium chloride 46.6 mg.
The other ingredients (excipients) are potassium acesulfame (E950 - sweetener) and lemon flavouring.
