Dry eyes - many causes

According to a survey of Austrian ophthalmologists, every second to fifth patient suffers from dry eyes^.1 More than half of contact lens wearers also complain of problems due to dry eyes^.2

When the eye's protective tear film is weakened, the eyes begin to burn, itch or water. They are also frequently reddened and those affected often experience a foreign body sensation. This is known as sicca syndrome. The symptoms are caused by environmental influences, e.g. air conditioning, wind, cold, dryness, fine dust or pollen. However, overexertion of the eyes, e.g. when working at computer screens or during long car journeys, can also reduce the eyes' natural moisturising film. Wearing hard and soft contact lenses, regularly taking certain medications or decreasing tear production with age can also have a negative impact.

Good to know: While the moisturising effect of conventional eye drops is quickly lost due to UV light, Dr. Böhm® optico guarantees a particularly long-lasting effect. This is made possible by a formula with high-dose hyaluronic acid and euphrasia (eyebright), which is almost identical to human tear fluid - confirmed by a European patent.

Dr Böhm® optico is phosphate-free and preservative-free and is suitable for long-term use - also ideal for contact lens wearers.

Active ingredients

• Sodium hyaluronate 0.25%: Long-chain hyaluronic acid can bind a particularly large amount of moisture and acts like a moisture depot in the eye, continuously releasing water. It also forms a protective layer and reduces friction on the surface of the eye.
• Euphrasia extract (eyebright) 0.1%: Its antioxidant effect protects the hyaluronic acid from premature degradation caused by UV light, ozone and fine dust and has an anti-inflammatory effect.
• Bicarbonate buffer = sodium hydrogen carbonate: Is a natural component of the tear fluid and therefore particularly well tolerated. The most important buffer system of the human organism for maintaining a stable pH value (7.5). Dr. Böhm® optico moisturising eye drops are currently the only eye drops with this natural buffer.
• Isotonic saline solution = 0.9% sodium chloride: Corresponds to the physiological composition of tear fluid.
• Glucose: Serves as a cell nutrient for the cornea.

Single dispenser

Application

• Dr. Böhm® optico can be used as often as required for intensive moisturisation. Drip 1-2 drops into each eye as required by taking a strip of single dispensers from a sachet and separating a dose. Make sure that the dispenser is undamaged, otherwise the sterility of the contents can no longer be guaranteed.
• To open the sterilised individual dispenser, twist off (do not pull!) the upper sealing part of the container. Bend your head slightly backwards, look upwards and pull the lower eyelid slightly away from the eye. Press lightly on the upper part of the dispenser to drop a drop into the lower conjunctival sac. Avoid any contact of the drop opening with the eye. The gel-like liquid forms a natural protective film that spreads evenly after repeated blinking - even for contact lens wearers.
