The intestine has to process 30 tonnes of food and more than 50,000 litres of fluid in the course of a lifetime. A real tour de force. But the intestine has other tasks that it "has to" perform every day. By providing nutrients and vitamins and excreting digested food, the intestine is an important part of our immune system.
Even Hippocrates, a famous physician of antiquity, knew that a "healthy gut is the root of all health". There are now countless books and scientific studies that deal with the topic of intestinal health and they all have one thing in common: the intestine is something like our health centre.
We can do a lot ourselves to ensure that our "centre" functions perfectly. In addition to a healthy diet and sufficient sport or physical activity, reducing negative stress is also beneficial.
