Directions for use
- Adults: Exoderil should be applied once daily to the cleaned and thoroughly dried, diseased areas.
- Children and adolescents: The safety and efficacy of naftifine hydrochloride in children and adolescents under 18 years of age have not yet been established. No data are available.
- Duration of use: In the case of fungal skin infections, it is important that treatment is continued for 2 weeks after the disappearance of all symptoms (itching, burning, etc.) despite rapid improvement of the symptoms in order to achieve a permanent cure. If there is no improvement in the symptoms within 4 weeks of starting treatment, consult your doctor.
- Method of application: Exoderil is intended for external use only. Apply a sufficient amount of the solution directly from the bottle or with a cotton pad so that the area(s) to be treated are thoroughly moistened and the surrounding skin areas are covered. Exoderil must not get into the eyes or be applied to mucous membranes.
In order to heal the fungal infection as soon as possible, you should observe the following rules:
- The fungal pathogens can adhere to items of clothing that come into contact with the diseased skin. These items of clothing should therefore be changed daily.
- A normal and above all dry skin surface is the best protection against fungal infections. You should therefore avoid wearing tight-fitting and poorly breathable clothing (e.g. socks made of synthetic fibres in tight shoes) on the affected areas of skin. You should also dry the affected areas of skin carefully after washing. Flannels and towels should be changed daily.
- If you have athlete's foot, you should not walk barefoot at home, in the bathroom or in a hotel, for example. This will prevent the pathogens from spreading further and, above all, avoid repeated infection.
- You should only return to the sauna and steam bath once the fungal infection has healed.
