- Tinea pedis (athlete’s foot) onlyoccurs on the feet (usually on both, but not always), often betweenthe toes. The fungus can alsoappearon the instep, on the soles, or in other areas of the feet. The most common type of athlete’s foot causes cracking or flaking of the skin, butmild swelling, blisters or weeping soresmay alsooccur. Terbinafine-ratiopharm cream isrecommendedforathlete’s foot that occurs between the toes.If you have a nail fungus infection (fungus in and under the nail) with discolouration of the nails andchanges in the nail structure (thick, flaky), you should consult your doctor, as Terbinafin ratiopharmCream is not suitable for this type of infection. Prescriptiontabletscontaining terbinafineshould be taken to treat nail fungus.
- Tinea corporis (ringworm) can occur anywhere on the body, often in skin folds,particularly where the skin is damp. The groin and inner thighs are frequentlyaffected(usuallyon both sides, but often more severely on one side). The fungus canspreadbetween the legs, onto the buttocksor as far as the abdomen.It can also occur in the crease under the breasts, in thearmpits or in other creased areas. The rash has a clear border and mayincludeblistersthat cause itching. If the fungal infection occurs on the head, neck, face and arms,ringwormcausescircular patches of red rash; however, scaly patches anditchingmay alsooccur.
- Tinea cruris (a fungal infection of the lower legs) mainly occurs on the outer sides of the lower legs andcauses red, pea-sized nodules with scaly edges, whichareoften accompanied by severe itching.
- Cutaneous candidiasis (intertrigo or sweat rash) occursin creased, sweat-soaked areas of theskin, e.g. under the breasts or in the armpits. Candidiasis usuallyoccursin older oroverweight patients, orinthose with other conditions such as diabetes. It causesredness, itching and scaling.
- Pityriasis versicolor (tinea versicolor) appears on the skin as scaly patches whichform white areasdue toloss of skin pigment. The patches aremost prominentin summer,when the surrounding skinis normally tanned. The condition generally appears on the trunk (from below theneck to the waist), the neck and the arms, and can recur within months, particularly inhot weather and as a result of sweating.
Dosage form
Directions for use
- Wash and dry the affected areas of skin and the surrounding areas, and wash your hands.
- Open the tube and apply a small amount of the cream to your finger.
- Replace the cap on the tube.
- Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected areas of skin and the surrounding areas.
- Gently rub the cream into the skin.
- Wash your hands after applying the cream; otherwise, the infection may spread to other areas of the skin or to other people.
- Fungal infection of the feet (tinea pedis): Apply once daily for 1 week.
- Fungal infection of the thighs and body (ringworm = tinea corporis): Apply once daily for 1 week.
- Fungal infection of the lower legs (tinea cruris): Apply once daily for 1 week.
- Fungal infections caused by yeasts (Candida, cutaneous candidiasis): Apply once or twice daily for 1–2 weeks. This fungal infection may look like ringworm or a fungal infection of the groin, but it occurs in older or overweight patients with damp areas in overlapping skin folds, or in those with other conditions such as diabetes. A longer course of treatment (2 weeks) may be necessary to treat candidiasis.
- Pityriasis versicolor: Apply twice daily for 1 week.
Ingredients
- The active ingredient is: terbinafine hydrochloride.
- 1 g of cream contains 10 mg of terbinafine hydrochloride.
- The other ingredients are: sodium hydroxide, benzyl alcohol, cetylstearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, cetyl ester wax, isopropyl myristate, polysorbate 60, sorbitan monostearate, purified water.
