- The large stinging nettle grows to a height of 60 cm to 150 cm and is dioecious, i.e. a plant only has male or female flowers. In the case of the small nettle, which grows to a height of only 15 cm to 45 cm, each plant has both male and female flowers.
- Effect: Stimulates the entire body metabolism and increases the amount of urine. To support the treatment of urinary complaints.
- Coriander is an annual plant that grows to a height of around 60 cm with pinnate, light green leaves. The small white to reddish flowers form double umbels. The fruits are brown to straw-coloured, round to spherical and, unlike other umbellifers, do not break up into sub-fruits. The aromatic odour of the fresh (unripe) fruits, which some people find unpleasant, is striking. The ripe, dried fruits, which have a pleasantly spicy odour, are used.
- Effect: The essential oil of coriander has an inhibitory effect on the growth of bacteria, is slightly antispasmodic and stimulates flatulence. Coriander is therefore used to treat bloating, mild cramp-like digestive complaints and flatulence and to stimulate the appetite. When added to medicines and foods, it increases their tolerability.
- The dandelion is an extremely adaptable plant; it grows on many soils. From March to April, the bright yellow flower heads can be seen in meadows and fields. The young fresh leaves can also be prepared as a salad or soup.
- Effect: Dandelion stimulates kidney and gall bladder activity. It is therefore used as a naturally mild choleretic, diuretic and adjuvant for digestive disorders, particularly in cases of poor fat digestion, in cases of bile flow disorders and dyspeptic complaints.
- Lemongrass originates from cultures, the area of origin of the grass-like or reed-like shrub is probably East Asia. It is cultivated in large parts of tropical Asia and South America for medicinal and culinary purposes. The tufted plant grows up to one metre high and can be cut three to four times a year. The name comes from the lemon-like scent that the grass gives off when crushed. The citral in the essential oil is responsible for the fragrance and the fruity, tangy flavour.
- Effect: The fresh odour has a refreshing and invigorating effect on tiredness, exhaustion and general weakness. Lemongrass is often used as a flavouring component.
