Wheat germ according to Dr Felix Grandel is carefully selected, laboratory-tested, purified and treated using a gentle fermentation process, but not roasted. They taste better than raw, uncleaned or roasted sprouts.
Dr Felix Grandel, a chemist and qualified farmer, discovered back in the 1930s that the germ is what makes the grain so valuable. One reason for Dr Grandel to use wheat germ for human nutrition. He developed a gentle fermentation process that is still used in production today.
Wholemeal wheat germ is:
- rich in protein
- rich in vitamin E
- rich in fibre
- rich in unsaturated fatty acids
- low in sodium
- not roasted
The high protein content contributes to muscle growth and maintenance.
Wholemeal wheat germ is rich in unsaturated fatty acids. Replacing saturated fatty acids with monounsaturated and/or polyunsaturated fatty acids in the diet helps to maintain normal cholesterol levels.
Vitamins B1, B2 and B6 support normal energy metabolism and normal functioning of the nervous system. Vitamin E and the trace elements zinc, manganese and copper help to protect the cells from oxidative stress. Iron and zinc contribute to the normal function of the immune system.
Wholemeal wheat germ contains potassium, which supports the maintenance of normal blood pressure. Magnesium contributes to normal muscle and nervous system function, normal energy metabolism and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
Wheat germ has a pleasant nutty flavour and is a natural addition to the daily diet.
