COLDAN nasal spray, 10 ML

The active ingredient in Coldan, naphazoline – a vasoconstrictor – reduces swelling of the nasal mucosa and inhibits the production of nasal secretions. The effect sets in a few minutes after application and lasts for around 4 hours.

Coldan is used for the local treatment of the common cold, hay fever and sore throat, as an adjunctive treatment for inflammation of the frontal and maxillary sinuses, and to facilitate rhinoscopy (examination of the inside of the nose).

Directions for use

• Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over: 1 spray into each nostril 2–4 times a day at most.
• Children aged 6 to 12 years should use 1 spray into each nostril 1–3 times a day at most.
• COLDAN Nasal Spray is not recommended for children aged 2 to 6 years.

If use is necessary, COLDAN Nasal Spray must only be given to children aged 2 to 6 years on medical advice. COLDAN Nasal Spray must not be used in children under 2 years of age.

Method of use

For nasal use. To be sprayed into the nose.

• Clean the nose thoroughly (blow your nose) before use.
• Remove the protective cap. Before using for the first time, press the spray pump until the first spray is released. After that, the metered-dose spray is ready for use immediately with every pump.
• With your head held upright, insert the spray nozzle into each nostril and press the spray pump.
• Optimal distribution of the spray is achieved by inhaling gently through the nose after spraying.
• Only release the pressure from the spray nozzle once the spray head has been removed from the nose.
• For hygiene reasons and to prevent the transmission of pathogens, a spray bottle should only ever be used by one person.

Duration of use

There should be an interval of at least 4 hours between individual applications. Treatment with COLDAN – Nasal Spray should not be continued for longer than 7 days in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over, and for no longer than 5 days in children aged 6–12 years. If your symptoms worsen or persist for more than 72 hours without any noticeable improvement, please consult a doctor. A break of at least 10 days must be observed before starting treatment again.

COLDAN Nasal Spray must not be used for long-term treatment. Prolonged, uninterrupted use may lead to tolerance.

Suitable for use in children and adolescents aged 6 years and over, and adults. If use is necessary, Coldan Nasal Spray must only be administered to children aged 2 to 6 years on the advice of a doctor.

Ingredients

The active ingredient is: naphazoline hydrochloride. 1 ml of solution contains 1 mg of naphazoline hydrochloride. The other ingredients are: benzalkonium chloride, sodium chloride, sodium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium monohydrogen phosphate, sodium edetate, purified water.
