Alka Seltzer® effervescent tablets, 20 ST

Alka Seltzer® effervescent tablets are an over-the-counter medicine containing the active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid (ASA). This has an analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effect.

The neutralising substances contained in Alka Seltzer effervescent tablets ensure good gastric tolerance.

Indications

• Symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain such as headaches, toothache and menstrual pain.
• To relieve pain and fever in colds and flu-like infections.

If you do not feel better or even worse after 3-4 days of pain and 3 days of fever, or if new symptoms occur (e.g. redness or swelling), it is essential to consult a doctor, as these may be signs of a serious illness.

Directions for use

• Adults and adolescents (from 12 years): Single dose: 1 - 2 effervescent tablets (324 mg - 648 mg acetylsalicylic acid). Daily dose: 3 - maximum 9 effervescent tablets (corresponding to 972 mg - 2.92 g acetylsalicylic acid). The maximum daily dose of 3 g acetylsalicylic acid must not be exceeded.
• Use in children (under 12 years of age): Medicinal products containing ASA (such as Alka Seltzer Effervescent Tablets) may only be given to children under 12 years of age if prescribed by a doctor. Alka Seltzer effervescent tablets are not suitable for children as this dosage form cannot be used for paediatric doses.
• Route of administration: To be taken after dissolving. Dissolve effervescent tablets completely in a glass of water and drink. Do not take on an empty stomach. If necessary, a single dose can be taken up to 4 times a day at intervals of 4 - 8 hours. As the tablets are sensitive to moisture, the airtight film should only be torn open immediately before using the tablet.
• Duration of use: Alka Seltzer effervescent tablets must not be taken for longer than 3-4 days in the case of pain and for longer than 3 days in the case of fever without a doctor's prescription. If pain or fever persists or even worsens during this time, if new symptoms occur (e.g. redness or swelling), you must consult your doctor, as these may be signs of a serious illness.

Ingredients

• The active ingredient is acetylsalicylic acid. One effervescent tablet contains 324 mg acetylsalicylic acid (ASA).
• The other ingredients are sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, povidone 25, dimethicone, calcium silicate, docusate sodium, sodium benzoate, sodium saccharin, lemon flavouring, lime flavouring.
