Folic acid as biologically active folate

What makes Pure Encapsulations® Folate 400 special is that it contains Metafolin®. This is the calcium compound of the bioactive form of folic acid (5-MTHF) that occurs naturally in the body. Metafolin® is directly available to the body, as – unlike folic acid – it no longer needs to be activated by the ‘MTHFR’ enzyme; it is therefore also effective in women who are unable to convert folic acid into bioactive folate to the required extent. It is difficult to obtain the recommended amount of folate from food. An adequate supply of folic acid is important for cell division.
