Product information "myCARE blood in faeces test for colorectal cancer screening"
myCARE blood in faeces test is used for bowel cancer screening. Detects "hidden" blood in the stool and is considered an indication of intestinal diseases, including cancer. This simple test helps you with screening.
Colon cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer, with around 5,000 cases in Austria and around 57,000 cases in Germany every year. The chance of survival is over 90% if the cancer is recognised and treated at an early stage.
Early detection is therefore the most effective method of combating bowel cancer. As the signs of bowel cancer usually do not cause any pain, they are easily dismissed as a discomfort, which makes early detection even more important. Colon polyps are a precursor to bowel cancer and may bleed visibly or invisibly.
Colonoscopy is the best form of screening. In addition, this immunological blood in stool test is a modern diagnostic tool. The high hit rate (sensitivity) of the immunological procedure has been clinically tested and proven by studies.

Why is screening so important?
- Colon polyps usually cause no symptoms and can remain undetected for many years. Early detection is particularly important for colon cancer: the chances of survival are over 90% if the cancer is recognised and treated at an early stage.
What is my risk of bowel cancer?
- The development of colon polyps can only be prevented by regular screening examinations, as the cause is largely unknown. From the age of 40, an annual occult blood test is recommended. If parents or siblings (first-degree relatives) have been diagnosed with intestinal polyps, the test should be carried out earlier and more frequently - there is a possible risk of a hereditary predisposition.

Application
- The stool sample is collected using a sample stick and placed in a sample container pre-filled with buffer and shaken. The sample mixture is then dropped onto a test cassette for analysis.
- What does the result tell me?If the test shows a positive result (two lines in the result field), you can assume that there is blood in your stool. This needs to be clarified by a doctor. The blood can also have other causes (e.g. haemorrhoids). If the doctor detects polyps, it is primarily their size that determines the risk of bowel cancer.
- How does this test work? This test enables the detection of non-visible (so-called occult) blood in the stool. No special dietary requirements need to be observed. The test specifically and accurately recognises human bleeding and is not influenced by food.
