Product information "autotest VIH® ratiopharm"
The autotest VIH® is available over the counter in pharmacies and can be carried out discreetly at home. It offers the possibility of early detection of the disease. The autotest VIH® ratiopharm requires only one drop of blood (about the same amount that diabetics need to measure their blood sugar). The HIV self-test is an antibody test and can therefore only reliably rule out an HIV infection 12 weeks after the last risk contact. It can take this long for antibodies to form. If the test is carried out too early, a negative result is not meaningful. In the event of a positive result, the result of the self-test must be checked by a confirmatory test in the laboratory.
