Ibumetin® forte 400 mg film-coated tablets, 40 ST

Ibumetin® forte 400 mg film-coated tablets are a medicinal product containing the active ingredient ibuprofen, used to relieve mild to moderate pain (such as headaches, toothache and period pain) and fever associated with a cold.

Ibumetin®, containing the single active ingredient ibuprofen, is used to relieve mild to moderate (acute) pain. It has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects. This triple action makes Ibumetin® a versatile painkiller; it is the all-rounder among painkillers and therefore ideal for your home and travel first-aid kit.

Ibuprofen belongs to a group of medicines known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (non-steroidal analgesics/anti-rheumatic drugs (NSAIDs)). These medicines have pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory and fever-reducing effects.

Ibumetin is used:

• to relieve mild to moderate pain (such as headaches, toothache and period pain); 
• to relieve pain and reduce fever associated with colds.

Directions for use

Adults and adolescents (aged 12 years and over) weighing ≥ 40 kg (adolescents aged 12 years and over and adults):

• Single dose: 1 tablet (equivalent to 400 mg ibuprofen)
• Maximum daily dose: 3 tablets (equivalent to 1200 mg ibuprofen)

Children (aged 6 years and over): Ibuprofen must only be given to children under 12 years of age on medical prescription. Ibumetin must not be used in children under 6 years of age. The tablet can be divided into equal doses.

20–29 kg (children: 6–9 years):

• Single dose: ½ (equivalent to 200 mg ibuprofen)
• Maximum daily dose: 1½ (equivalent to 600 mg ibuprofen)

30–39 kg (children: 10–12 years):

• Single dose: ½ (equivalent to 200 mg ibuprofen)
• Maximum daily dose: 2 (equivalent to 800 mg ibuprofen)

Method of administration: For oral use. Please take Ibumetin whole with plenty of liquid (e.g. a glass of water) during or after a meal. There should be at least 6 hours between doses.

Duration of use: The lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest duration necessary to relieve symptoms. If you have an infection, consult a doctorimmediately if the symptoms (e.g. fever and pain) persist or worsen (see section 2). Consult your doctor if you need to take Ibumetin for more than 3 days to treat a fever or for more than 4 days to treat pain, or if your symptoms worsen. If children and adolescents need to take this medicine for more than 3 days, or if their symptoms worsen, seek medical advice. Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you feel that the effect of this medicine is stronger or weaker than you expected.

Ingredients

• The active ingredient is: ibuprofen. One tablet contains 400 mg of ibuprofen.
• The other ingredients are: Tablet core: microcrystalline cellulose, lactose, croscarmellose sodium, sodium lauryl sulphate, magnesium stearate, highly dispersed silicon dioxide; tablet coating: hypromellose, talc, titanium dioxide E171.
