The intestine has to process 30 tonnes of food and more than 50,000 litres of fluid in the course of a lifetime. A real tour de force. But the intestine has other tasks that it "has to" perform every day. By providing nutrients and vitamins and excreting digested food, the intestine is an important part of our immune system.
Even Hippocrates, a famous physician of antiquity, knew that a "healthy gut is the root of all health". There are now countless books and scientific studies that deal with the topic of intestinal health and they all have one thing in common: the intestine is something like our health centre.
We can do a lot ourselves to ensure that our "centre" functions perfectly. In addition to a healthy diet, sufficient sport and physical activity, reducing negative stress is also beneficial.
Stomach & intestines: help with heartburn, diarrhoea & constipation
Digestion that is out of sync is unpleasant and affects your well-being. Our "Stomach & intestines" category offers targeted solutions for the most common complaints: Find fast-acting remedies for heartburn and reflux (e.g. proton pump inhibitors ), gentle laxatives for constipation or reliable help for acute diarrhoea. We also offer suitable preparations for flatulence or to build up intestinal flora.
  • What helps quickly against heartburn? So-called antacids, which neutralise excess stomach acid (e.g. Gaviscon ), help with acute heartburn. In the longer term, proton pump inhibitors (PPI) or H2 receptor blockers are used to reduce the production of stomach acid.
  • What to do in case of acute diarrhoea? In the case of diarrhoea, the most important thing is to balance fluids and electrolytes (salts). Medication with the active ingredient loperamide can slow down intestinal activity. Probiotics can help to regenerate the disturbed intestinal flora.
