Gall Pharma Choline Capsules are a dietary supplement containing 100 mg choline per capsule. Choline is a substance similar to the B vitamins that supports the transmission of stimuli between nerves and muscles, as well as memory performance.
Like inositol, choline is a component of lecithin and is therefore involved in numerous reactions and functions in the body. The amount supplied through food varies between 5 and 9 g per day, mostly as lecithin. Choline is mainly found in meat, eggs and cereals.
Choline and lecithin supplements can increase acetylcholine levels in the brain. A lack of these active ingredients leads to a lack of memory and concentration. A lack of choline therefore causes poor memory and forgetfulness.
Choline is also involved in fat metabolism. Choline and inositol can attach themselves to fat cells, penetrate them and dissolve the fat they contain. They cause the removal and subsequent metabolisation in the mitochondria of the muscle cells. Thanks to its lipotrophic (= fat-dissolving) properties, choline supports the mobilisation of stored fat.
There is no recommended daily intake for choline, as it is usually obtained in sufficient quantities from food. However, supplementation is recommended if memory performance is impaired and cholesterol levels are too high. Vitamin B12 and folic acid are of great importance for the formation of choline. If the intake of folic acid or vitamin B12 is low, the need for choline is therefore considerably increased.
