Fenistil Gel contains an active ingredient that belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines.

How does Fenistil Gel work?
Fenistil Gel stops itching by blocking the effect of histamine, a substance released by the body during allergic reactions. The gel penetrates the skin quickly and relieves itching and skin irritation within minutes. Fenistil Gel also has a local anaesthetic effect.

Why does a gel sting itch?
When stung, mosquitoes inject a saliva secretion into the skin so that the stung person's blood remains liquid and does not coagulate. The saliva secretion triggers the release of the body's own histamine - an allergic reaction that is usually limited to the puncture site and is usually associated with "agonising" itching. A wheal often forms at the injection site for a few hours.

How to use
- Children, adolescents and adults: Unless otherwise recommended by a doctor, apply 2-4 times daily to the affected skin area.
- Duration of use: Consult your doctor if the symptoms do not improve within a week.
Ingredients
- The active ingredient is: dimetindene maleate. 1 g contains 1 mg dimetindene maleate. 1 cm gel contains 0.24 mg dimetindene maleate.
- The other ingredients are: Benzalkonium chloride, sodium edetate, carbomer,propylene glycol, sodium hydroxide solution, purified water.
