Fenistil® drops, 20 ML

Fenistil drops are a medicinal product containing the active ingredient dimetindene maleate, a so-called ‘antihistamine’. Fenistil drops are effective against the symptoms of allergic conditions and for all types of itching.

This medicine is used for:

• Itching caused by: eczema, childhood illnesses (e.g. chickenpox), insect stings and bites, and food and medicine allergies
• hives
• Sneezing and an itchy nose associated with allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis (hay fever)
• Itching without a skin condition

Thanks to their liquid form, Fenistil® drops provide rapid and effective relief from symptoms of allergies and itching, for example caused by chickenpox or eczema.

How do Fenistil drops work?

The body’s own messenger substance, histamine, causes allergic skin reactions such as swelling, itching and redness. The body releases increased levels of histamine when foreign substances (allergens) penetrate the skin and the body mounts a defensive response to these substances. Fenistil drops contain the active ingredient dimetindene, which blocks histamine in the body and thus reduces the typical symptoms.

Usage

• Fenistil is suitable for adults, adolescents and children aged 1 year and over. It must only be given to children under 3 years of age on medical prescription.
• Children aged 1 to 12 years: The recommended daily dose is 2 drops per kg of body weight per day, divided into three doses; for example, 8 drops three times a day for a 2-year-old child weighing 12 kg.
• Adults and children aged 12 years and over: 20–40 drops three times a day.
• Notes: For patients prone to drowsiness, it is recommended to take 40 drops before going to bed and 20 drops in the morning.
• Method of administration: For oral use. Administer the drops undiluted using a teaspoon. Hold the bottle upright when counting the drops! Do not add to hot liquids; add to lukewarm liquid in a baby’s feeding bottle only immediately before use. For young children, the medicine should be administered with a spoon as soon as possible (the solution has a pleasant taste).
• Duration of use: Do not take Fenistil for longer than 14 days without consulting a doctor.

• The active ingredient is: dimetindene maleate. 1 ml contains 1 mg of dimetindene maleate. 1 ml = 20 drops.
• The other ingredients are: sodium monohydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate (E 339), citric acid monohydrate (E 330), benzoic acid (E 210), sodium edetate (E 386), sodium saccharin (E 954), propylene glycol (E 1520), purified water.
