Fenistil® drops, 20 ML

Fenistil drops are a medicine containing the active ingredient dimetindene maleate, a so-called "antihistamine". Fenistil drops are effective against the symptoms of allergic diseases and itching of all kinds.

This medicine is used for

• Itching caused by: Eczema, childhood illnesses (e.g. chickenpox), insect bites and stings, food and drug allergies
• Hives
• Sneezing and itching in the nose with allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis (hay fever)
• Itching without skin disease

Thanks to their liquid form, Fenistil® drops quickly and effectively relieve the symptoms of allergies and itching caused by chickenpox or eczema, for example.

How do Fenistil drops work?

The body's own messenger substance histamine causes allergic skin reactions such as swelling, itching and redness. The body releases more histamine when foreign substances (allergens) penetrate the skin and the body reacts in defence to these substances. Fenistil drops contain the active ingredient dimetindene, which blocks the histamine in the body and thus reduces the typical symptoms.

How to use

• Fenistil is used in adults, adolescents and children from 1 year of age. May only be given to children under 3 years of age with a doctor's prescription.
• Children from 1 to 12 years: The recommended daily dose is 2 drops per kg of body weight per day, divided into three doses, e.g. 8 drops three times a day for a 2 year old child weighing 12 kg.
• Adults and children aged 12 and over: 20 - 40 drops 3 times a day.
• Advice: For patients who are prone to drowsiness, it is recommended to take 40 drops before going to bed and 20 drops in the morning.
• Method of administration: Oral use. Administer drops undiluted using a teaspoon. Do not add to hot liquid; only add to lukewarm liquid in a baby bottle immediately before use. Infants should be given with a spoon as soon as possible (the solution tastes pleasant).
• Duration of use: Do not take Fenistil for longer than 14 days without consulting a doctor.

Ingredients

• The active substance is: dimetindene maleate. 1 ml contains 1 mg dimetindene maleate. 1 ml = 20 drops.
• The other ingredients are: sodium monohydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate (E 339), citric acid monohydrate (E 330), benzoic acid (E 210), sodium edetate (E 386), saccharin sodium (E 954), propylene glycol (E 1520), purified water.
