Lemongrass (Folium Citronellae)

• Lemongrass originates from cultures, the area of origin of the grass-like or reed-like shrub is probably East Asia. It is cultivated in large parts of tropical Asia and South America for medicinal and culinary purposes. The tufted plant grows up to one metre high and can be cut three to four times a year. The name comes from the lemon-like scent that the grass gives off when crushed. The citral in the essential oil is responsible for the fragrance and the fruity, tangy flavour.
• Effect: The fresh odour has a refreshing and invigorating effect on tiredness, exhaustion and general weakness. Lemongrass is often used as a flavouring component.

Elderberry (Flos Sambuci)

• The elderberry usually grows to a height of 3 - 4 metres, but can also grow up to 10 metres. It is characterised by its warty, unpleasant-smelling bark and large inflorescences with yellowish-white flowers, which develop into shiny black to black-violet berries in autumn. The main active ingredients of the flowers are essential oils, diaphoretic glycosides and flavonoids.
• Effect: Elderflowers have a strong diaphoretic and antipyretic effect and mobilise the body's own defences.

Marshmallow (Radix Althaeae, Folium Althaeae)

• This perennial plant, which grows up to 1.5 metres high and has soft hairs, is widespread throughout Europe and western Asia. The flowers are pale pink to white. The leaves and roots collected shortly before flowering are used medicinally.
• Effect: To relieve irritation in cases of inflammation of the mucous membranes in the mouth and throat and in the gastrointestinal tract, to alleviate the urge to cough in cases of bronchial catarrh.

Liquorice (Radix Liquiritiae)

• Liquorice is a woody, perennial shrub that grows up to 2 metres high. It has an extensive root system with a taproot. The bluish to light purple butterfly flowers are arranged in spike-like, upright inflorescences. The dried secondary roots collected in late autumn to spring are used medicinally.
• Effect: The glycyrrhizin contained in liquorice root has a cough-reducing, anti-inflammatory and expectorant effect. It also inhibits the growth of bacteria, fungi and viruses, which means that liquorice root can also be used to treat coughs and inflammation in the mouth and throat.

How to use

• Pour boiling water over 1 filter bag per cup (125 ml), cover and leave to infuse for 10 minutes. Then swirl the filter bag, squeeze out and drink the tea lukewarm in sips. Enjoy a cup of tea several times a day.
• Note: The alkaline mineral mixture may cause the tea to become slightly cloudy.
