CoCurmin® Colo Capsules, 30 ST

CoCurmin® Colo capsules are a foodstuff for special medical purposes (balanced diet) containing lactobacilli, bifidobacteria, turmeric and black pepper extract. For dietary management of bowel discomfort following a colonoscopy.

Colonoscopy

• A colonoscopy is an important and safe method for thoroughly examining the lower sections of the bowel. You have been properly informed in advance about the possible risks and complications of this medical procedure. Unlike serious health consequences, which occur only in exceptional cases, up to 30 per cent of those examined may experience temporary bowel discomfort, such as bloating and abdominal pain, in the days following the procedure. These symptoms are less related to the examination itself than to the preparations required for it:
• To prepare for a colonoscopy, you were given a laxative to cleanse the bowel. However, this forced complete emptying of the bowel has flushed out not only the bowel contents but also a large proportion of the beneficial bacteria naturally present in the bowel, which will now have to slowly re-establish themselves following the examination.

Active ingredients

• Curcumin: Curcumin is the active ingredient derived from turmeric, which has been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years.
• 8 natural bacterial strains: Eight different bacterial strains, which occur in the natural and healthy gut flora, reach the gut in their viable state and in their millions within gastro-resistant capsules, where they can colonise and multiply. The eight bacterial strains include the bifidobacteria B. longum, B. infantis and B. breve; the lactobacilli L. acidophilus, L. rhamnosus and L. casei; and the strains S. thermophilus and L. lactis.
• Bioperine: Bioperine is piperine, a secondary plant compound derived from black pepper (Piper nigrum). In small quantities, black pepper in products containing several plant-based ingredients supports the function of the other plants.

Directions for use

• It is best to start taking CoCurmin® Colo on the day of your colonoscopy, but only AFTER the examination has been completed!
• Take one capsule three times a day, without chewing, with plenty of liquid. Doses should be spread throughout the day and are best taken before meals.
• CoCurmin® Colo capsules should be taken continuously for at least one week. As CoCurmin® Colo is a food for special medical purposes (balanced diet), prolonged use is generally possible.
• Important information: Curcumin supplements promote bile flow and should therefore not be taken in cases of acute liver or gallbladder inflammation, or where gallstones have been diagnosed. When taken in combination with anticoagulant medicines, curcumin may increase the risk of bleeding and should therefore only be taken after consulting a doctor. Young children, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should not take curcumin supplements, as there are insufficient studies available for these groups. As CoCurmin® Colo is a food for special medical purposes (balanced diet), long-term use is generally possible. It must be taken under medical supervision and is not suitable as the sole source of nutrition.
