Azelastine COMOD eye drops contain the active substance azelastine hydrochloride. This belongs to a group of medicines known as anti-allergics (antihistamines). For use on the eye in allergic conjunctivitis.
Antihistamines work by protecting against the effects of substances such as histamine, which the body produces as part of an allergic reaction. Azelastine has also been shown to be effective against inflammation of the eye.
Azelastine COMOD can be used to treat and prevent eye conditions associated with hay fever (seasonal allergic conjunctivitis) in adults and children aged 4 years and older. Azelastine COMOD can be used to treat eye disorders caused by an allergy to substances such as house dust mites or animal dander (non-seasonal, year-round allergic conjunctivitis) in adults or children aged 12 years and older.
Azelastine-COMOD® eye drops - the fast defence!
The rapid onset of action is due to the active ingredient azelastine. The allergic symptoms in the eye are relieved after just a few minutes. Azelastine protects against the effects of histamine, which the body produces in the event of an allergic reaction. In this way, azelastine has an anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory effect. Ideal for anyone who does not want to be caught off guard by an allergy.

eye drops
Intended use
- Eye diseases caused by hay fever (seasonal allergic conjunctivitis): Use in adults and children from 4 years of age: The usual dose is one drop in each eye in the morning and evening. If you expect contact with flower pollen, you can apply the usual dose of Azelastine COMOD as a preventive measure before you leave the house.
- Eye disease caused by allergies (non-seasonal (year-round) allergic conjunctivitis): Use in adults and children aged 12 years and over: The usual dose is one drop in each eye in the morning and evening. If you have severe symptoms, your doctor may increase the dose to one drop in each eye up to four times a day. An improvement in the symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis should be noticed after 15-30 minutes.
- Duration of use: If possible, you should use Azelastine COMOD® regularly until your symptoms have disappeared. Do not use Azelastine COMOD® for longer than 6 weeks.
- Method of application: Azelastine COMOD® should only be dripped into the eyes.
Wash your hands. Take a clean tissue and gently remove the tear fluid from the lower edge of the eyelid.
- Remove the cap before each use. Before using Azelastine COMOD® for the first time, please hold the bottle with the dropper tip pointing vertically downwards and press the bottom of the bottle repeatedly until the first drop comes out at the tip of the bottle. The bottle is then ready for use for the following applications.
- Hold the bottle with the dropper tip pointing downwards by placing your thumb on the shoulder of the bottle and your other fingers on the base of the bottle.
- Support your hand with the COMOD® bottle on your free hand as shown.
- Lean your head back slightly, pull the lower eyelid slightly away from the eye with your free hand and press quickly and firmly on the centre of the base of the bottle. This activates the mechanism for removing a drop. Due to the special valve technology of the COMOD® system, the size and speed of the drop are always the same, even when very strong pressure is applied to the base of the bottle. Avoid contact of the dropper tip with the eye or facial skin when dripping. Close your eyes slowly so that the liquid can spread evenly over the surface of the eye.
- After instilling Azelastine COMOD®, release the lower eyelid and press lightly against the bridge of your nose from the corner of your eye. While holding your finger against your nose, blink slowly several times to spread the drop over the surface of the eye. Remove any excess eye drops.
- Close the dropper tip carefully with the cap immediately after use. Please ensure that the dropper tip is dry.
