Control of the homocysteine metabolism

Folic acid belongs to the B vitamin family and fulfils numerous functions in the body. For example, it is involved in the conversion of homocysteine into methionine - an important metabolic process, as too much homocysteine can have damaging effects on the body.

Desire to have children and pregnancy

Young women of childbearing age in particular need to ensure they have an adequate supply of folic acid. The B vitamin plays a key role in cell division and haematopoiesis. During pregnancy, it is therefore involved in the healthy development of the foetus and the growth of maternal tissue. During this phase of life in particular, there is therefore an increased need for folic acid, which should definitely be covered by an adequate intake.

Meeting the individual requirement

Our body needs more folic acid, especially if we want to have children and during pregnancy. However, the daily intake of the water-soluble vitamin through food is not always easy.
