- Vitamin D is required for the maintenance of bones and teeth, muscle function and the immune system. When there is little sunlight, the body's own production of vitamin D in the skin and the intake from food are generally not sufficient. The German Nutrition Society (DGE) recommends the intake of 20 μg (800 I.U.) of vitamin D per day (estimated adequate intake) if the body's own vitamin D production is insufficient. This corresponds to 1 drop of Dr Jacob's Vitamin D3K2 Oil. A higher dose of vitamin D may be advisable for health reasons.
- Vitamin K also fulfils central tasks in bone metabolism. The long-chain vitamin K2 (all-trans MK-7) contained in Dr Jacob's Vitamin D3K2 Oil is particularly bioavailable compared to vitamin K1 and other forms of vitamin K2 and is optimally absorbed by the body. With a half-life of approx. 3 days, it also has a significantly longer duration of action than vitamin K1 (1-2 hours).
- Vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 work together in the storage of calcium in the bones and thus contribute to the maintenance of normal bones. Vitamin D3 causes the formation of osteocalcin (central protein in bone metabolism). Vitamin K2 is needed to activate osteocalcin. Only activated osteocalcin can actually incorporate calcium into the bones. Vitamin K2 also activates MGP, a central calcium-binding protein in the vascular wall and connective tissue. Vitamin K2 also supports normal blood clotting by enabling the formation of clotting factors as well as anti-clotting factors, in particular protein S.

How to use
- For adults and children aged 1 year and over: take 1 drop daily (up to 5 drops if required). For infants under 1 year: 1 drop every 2nd day.
- 1 drop contains 20 μg vitamin D3 (800 I.U.) and 20 μg vitamin K2 (all-trans MK-7).
- Please note: If taking vitamin K antagonists (coumarin-type anticoagulants), please consult your doctor!
