monamed® plus is a high-quality dietary supplement for maintaining healthy cholesterol levels and normalising homocysteine metabolism. It contains the concentrated power of red yeast rice, which has had a firm place in Asian cuisine and medicine for centuries. Phytosterols contribute to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels from a daily intake of 800 mg (two coated tablets).

Properties

monamed® plus contains standardised red yeast rice (Monascus purpureus) with a content of 2.9 mg monacolin K and 800 mg phytosterols per daily dose (2 coated tablets). The plant-based ingredient monacolin K inhibits cholesterol biosynthesis. Phytosterols occur naturally in many fat-rich plants and contribute to normal cholesterol levels. Phytosterols are related to cholesterol in their chemical structure. Due to their similarity, they can reduce the absorption of cholesterol from food in the small intestine, the organism uses up the cholesterol it produces itself, thus reducing the overall concentration in the body. Homocysteine is an amino acid that is naturally formed in the human metabolism and is quickly broken down again. Low vitamin levels of vitamin B6, folic acid and vitamin B12 lead to an increased concentration of homocysteine in the blood. This can favour the risk of cardiovascular diseases and osteoporosis. Vitamins B6 and B12 as well as folic acid are involved in the breakdown of the metabolic product homocysteine and thus ensure a normal homocysteine metabolism. This high-quality and unique composition of monamed® plus makes a valuable contribution to vascular health.

Directions

Take 2 coated tablets once a day, preferably with dinner and sufficient liquid.
Important information: monamed® plus is not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. monamed® plus is not a substitute for treatment prescribed by a doctor for high cholesterol levels. Store in a dry place away from light and heat. Should not be consumed by pregnant or breastfeeding women, children under 18 and adults over 70. Keep out of reach of children.
Please note the following instructions before taking: Only take in consultation with a doctor/pharmacist. Do not exceed a daily dose of 3 mg monacolin K from red mould rice. If you suffer from liver or kidney disease, always consult your doctor before taking monamed® plus. Seek medical advice before consuming this product if you experience any health problems. monamed® plus should not be consumed if you are taking cholesterol-lowering medication and monamed® plus should not be consumed if you are already consuming other products containing red mould rice. Do not drink grapefruit juice during use.Do not drink alcohol while taking monamed® plus. Have your cholesterol level checked regularly during prolonged use. monamed® plus can lead to muscle cramps, sensitivity or weakness (myopathies) in individual cases. Intensive exercise should therefore be avoided while taking monamed® plus. If myopathies or digestive problems, itching, numbness and burning in the legs occur, contact your doctor immediately.Do not take together with medicines such as synthetic statins, macrolide antibiotics (erythromycin, clarithromycin), antimycotics (ketoconazole, itraconazole) and other medicines that inhibit the cytochrome P450 3A4 enzyme or are metabolised by it. Do not take monamed® plus at the same time as medicines that are known to interact with synthetic lovastatin.
