These symptoms may be caused, amongst other things, by a dry, non-productive cough – such as a dry cough – resulting from an irritated and dry oral mucosa. The throat lozenges, containing a hydrogel complex with hyaluronic acid and plant-based Iceland moss, effectively protect the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat.

Mechanism of action

• The hydrogel complex, consisting of carbomer and xanthan gum with hyaluronic acid, is incorporated into the throat lozenges. Thanks to the water-binding capacity of the polysaccharide xanthan gum and the special swelling properties of the gelling agent carbomer, a protective film forms over the irritated mucous membranes. The hyaluronic acid contained in the lozenges has the unique physical property of forming a moisturising film on the surface of the mucous membranes. 
• The dry residue from the special extract of Iceland moss – a hardy lichen native to the harsh climate of the far north – consists of over 80 per cent mucilage. When sucked, the extract dissolves like a balm and spreads soothingly throughout the mouth, throat and pharynx. 
• This stimulates saliva production, allowing irritated mucous membranes to regenerate, and alleviates typical cold and throat symptoms such as a tickly cough and hoarseness, as well as dry mucous membranes and the resulting sore throat and difficulty swallowing.

Directions for use

• Adults and children aged 6 years and over may take up to 6 lozenges a day as required. The lozenges should be sucked slowly until they have completely dissolved.
• Notes: Please only take isla® med hydro+ Mild Cherry after consulting your doctor if you know that you suffer from an intolerance to certain sugars. There is no evidence to suggest that this product should not be used during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding.

Ingredients

• The throat lozenges contain an aqueous extract of Iceland moss (0.4–0.8 : 1), carbomer,xanthan gum and sodium hyaluronate. 
• Other ingredients: gum arabic, sorbitol, maltitol, anhydrous citric acid, acesulfame K, levomenthol, flavourings, colouring plant extract (carrot/blackcurrant), medium-chain triglycerides, purified water.
• 1 lozenge contains the sugar substitutes sorbitol (0.11 g) and maltitol (0.94 g) = 0.09 BE.
