Stress - the soul out of balance

Our lives demand a lot from us. Even the ancients knew that saffron (Crocus sativus) could do more than just give all kinds of dishes a bright yellow colour. The ancient Greeks, for example, used saffron to counteract melancholy. Its ingredients include the main active ingredient crocin, which is responsible for inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin and other mood-enhancing neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine and dopamine. However, scientific studies have now also shown that the world's most expensive spice can actually help with depression.
