- As a leavening agent for baking bread and cakes (approx. 1 teaspoon per 300-400g of flour). In addition to its use as a leavening agent, baking soda can also neutralise acids due to its slightly alkaline pH value. This results in numerous other possible uses, for example as an aid when cleaning and blanching fruit and vegetables.
