- The proven combination of active ingredients in W-Tropfen®, salicylic acid and lactic acid, softens the callus so that it can be removed more easily. Both substances work synergistically, i.e. they support the effect of the other and thus achieve a better effect than when used individually.
- Due to its callus-dissolving effect, salicylic acid is categorised as an active ingredient in the groups of topical remedies for psoriasis and remedies for cornification disorders. It causes the skin to desquamate by loosening corneal cell clusters, which improves skin nutrition and blood circulation. The separation of the corneal cells from each other is achieved by the salicylic acid dissolving small structures in the corneal cell wall through which the cells are connected to each other.
- Salicylic acid is also an analgesic, anti-inflammatory and blood-thinning drug that has a disinfectant effect on the skin due to its enzymes. It can only be used externally due to its poor gastrointestinal tolerance. However, it also alleviates swelling, redness and pain in damaged tissue.
- Lactic acid increases the moisture content and elasticity of the cornea and has a slightly protein-precipitating effect. As a result, it counteracts excessive callus formation and is therefore known as a keratolytic.
Dosage form
How to use
- W drops are used for adults and adolescents aged 12 and over. W drops should only be applied to affected areas and once a day, preferably before bedtime.
- Method of application: For application to the skin. Before the first application, bathe the affected skin area in warm water and dry well. Coat the healthy areas of skin around the corn or callus with a little Vaseline. Apply a thin layer of W-Drops directly to the corn or callus. Then wait until the applied layer has dried. Repeat this process 3 to 4 times until a firm layer forms that does not shift, does not pinch, does not interfere with walking and does not soil stockings/socks or bed linen. In the case of calluses, only treat a small area with a maximum diameter of 2 cm at a time.
- Duration of application: 4 to 6 days After regular application, the softened horny layer can be removed after a warm bath. If the horny layer cannot be completely removed, the treatment must be repeated (as described above). W-Drops can be easily removed from clothing with acetone.
- Use on children: W-Drops must not be used on infants and small children under 2 years of age. Use on children aged 2 - 12 years is not recommended due to a lack of sufficient data.

- The other ingredients are: Ether, ethyl acetate, 2-propanol, pyroxylin, viscous paraffin, refined castor oil.
