Strepsils lozenges contain flurbiprofen. Flurbiprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) with analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory properties.
Indications:
- Strepsils lozenges are used for short-term relief of symptoms of sore throat such as inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa, pain and swelling, and difficulty swallowing in adults and children aged 12 years and over.
Consult a doctor if the symptoms get worse or do not improve after 3 days.
Strepsils® is particularly recommended for the symptomatic relief of sore throats, for severe to very severe sore throats and for swollen and reddened throats. Sore throats are accompanied by painful inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa. This manifests itself in symptoms such as redness, swelling and difficulty swallowing.
Strepsils® contains the active ingredient flurbiprofen. It not only has an analgesic effect, but also has an anti-inflammatory and therefore decongestant effect. Flurbiprofen is particularly suitable when antiseptics and local anaesthetics are no longer sufficient for quick and lasting relief of sore throats. The effect starts after just 30 minutes and lasts for up to 4 hours. It has a pleasant honey and lemon flavour.

How to use
Recommended dosage for adults and children aged 12 and over:
- Take 1 lozenge and let it slowly dissolve in the mouth.
- Keep moving the lozenge around in your mouth while sucking.
- The lozenge should start to work within 30 minutes.
- Then take 1 lozenge every 3 to 6 hours if necessary.
- Do not take more than 5 lozenges within 24 hours.
Do not use in children under 12 years of age.
Advice: You should only use as many lozenges as you need to relieve your symptoms over the shortest possible period of time. If irritation occurs in the mouth, treatment with Flurbiprofen should be discontinued.
Duration of use: Do not use Strepsils for longer than 3 days unless your doctor has prescribed it. If you do not feel better or even worse, or if new symptoms occur, talk to a doctor or pharmacist.
Ingredients
- The active substance (which makes the medicine work) is flurbiprofen 8.75 mg.
- The other ingredients are: Macrogol 300, potassium hydroxide, lemon flavouring (contains butylated hydroxyanisole (E320)), levomenthol, invert sugar (honey), liquid glucose (contains wheat starch and sulphur dioxide (E220)) and liquid sucrose.
