Soventol hydrocortisone acetate is a medicine with a low concentration of a weakly active corticosteroid that is used for the short-term external treatment of moderate inflammatory and allergic skin diseases.

- for the treatment of moderately reddened, inflamed or allergic skin conditions in adults and children over 6 years of age, for whom weak corticosteroids in low concentrations are indicated.
- The skin reacts to direct contact with an allergen (e.g. costume jewellery, detergents, cosmetics, textiles).
- After about 2 days, a severely itchy rash develops, accompanied by redness of the skin, nodules and blisters.
- Often, those affected are unable to identify the trigger at all due to the delayed onset of symptoms.
- Excessive UV exposure overwhelms the skin’s natural repair mechanisms. Skin cells die off.
- The small blood vessels dilate, resulting in the typical redness of the skin.
- Further typical symptoms – caused by the local inflammation – appear around 6 hours later: swelling, pain and a sensation of heat.
- The main symptoms of most acute, eczematous skin inflammations are itching and redness of the skin.
- These are often accompanied by the formation of nodules or blisters, weeping of the skin and oedema.
- Prompt treatment to relieve itching and reduce inflammation helps to prevent secondary infections and the condition becoming chronic.
- A chronic inflammatory skin condition characterised by severe itching (medical term: atopic dermatitis).
- The skin’s protective function is impaired: contact with germs or physical, chemical or emotional stimuli can lead to inflammation.
- The skin is often dry, scaly, reddened and itchy. In the acute stage, nodules and pustules form.
Dosage form
Directions for use
- Adults and children over 6 years of age: Apply a thin layer of Soventol Hydrocortisone Acetate to the affected areas of skin up to 3 times a day. Immediately after applying the cream, a slight burning sensation may occur, but this usually subsides quickly. Once the condition has improved, once-daily application is often sufficient.
- Method of application: Soventol Hydrocortisone Acetate is applied to the skin in a thin layer and gently rubbed in. The tube is sealed with a thin aluminium foil. Before first use, pierce the seal using the spike on the top of the tube cap.
- Duration of treatment: The duration of treatment depends on how well you respond to it. However, Soventol Hydrocortisone Acetate must not be used for longer than 2 weeks without consulting your doctor, and the duration of treatment in children should be kept to a minimum. Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you feel that the effect of Soventol Hydrocortisone Acetate is too strong or too weak.
