Product information "Soventol hydrocortisone acetate 0.5 % cream"
Soventol hydrocortisone acetate 0.5 % cream is a medicinal product containing a low concentration of a weakly active corticosteroid for the short-term (maximum 2 weeks) external treatment of moderate inflammatory and allergic skin conditions.
The active ingredient in the cream is the weakly active corticosteroid hydrocortisone acetate. It has a mild anti-inflammatory effect.
As an acetate, hydrocortisone is released very easily from the cremogel galenic and penetrates the skin particularly quickly to develop its anti-inflammatory effect locally. This means that the many positive effects of hydrocortisone (anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, anti-itching) can unfold particularly quickly. The unique cremogel formula also has both cooling and moisturising effects: Soventol cream therefore cools like a gel and cares like a cream.
Soventol hydrocortisone acetate is used
- for the treatment of moderately reddened, inflamed or allergic skin conditions in adults and children over 6 years of age for which low concentrations of weakly effective corticosteroids are indicated.
Contact allergies
- The skin reacts to direct contact with an allergen (e.g. costume jewellery, detergents, cosmetics, textiles).
- After about 2 days, a very itchy rash develops with reddening of the skin, nodules and blisters.
- Those affected are often unable to identify the trigger due to the delayed onset.
Painful sunburn
- Excessive UV exposure overloads the skin's own repair capacity. Skin cells die off.
- The small blood vessels dilate, resulting in the typical reddening of the skin.
- Other typical symptoms occur around 6 hours later due to the local inflammation: swelling, pain and a feeling of heat.
Acute skin inflammation
- The main symptoms of most acute, eczematous skin inflammations are itching and reddening of the skin.
- This is often accompanied by the formation of nodules or blisters, weeping of the skin and oedema.
- Rapid antipruritic and anti-inflammatory therapy helps to prevent superinfections and chronicity.
Neurodermatitis
- Chronic inflammatory skin disease associated with severe itching (med.: atopic dermatitis).
- The protective function of the skin is reduced: contact with germs, physical, chemical or emotional stimuli can lead to inflammation.
- The skin is often dry, scaly, reddened and itchy. In the acute stage, nodules and pustules form.

How to use
- Adults and children over 6 years of age: Apply a thin layer of Soventol hydrocortisone acetate to the affected areas of skin up to 3 times a day. A slight burning sensation may occur immediately after applying the cream, but this usually subsides quickly. Once the condition has improved, once daily application is often sufficient.
- Method of application: Soventol hydrocortisone acetate is applied to the skin in a thin layer and gently rubbed in. The tube is sealed with a thin aluminium foil. Pierce the seal with the spike on the top of the tube cap before the first application.
- Duration of treatment: The duration of use depends on how well you respond to the treatment. However, Soventol Hydrocortisone Acetate should not be used for longer than 2 weeks without consulting your doctor, and the duration should be kept to a minimum in children. Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you feel that the effect of Soventol Hydrocortisone Acetate is too strong or too weak.
