The active ingredient in Sikapur® med Cold Sore Gel is silica gel (silicic acid gel), a compound of the mineral silicon with oxygen and water.

What makes silica gel special, apart from its ability to relieve burning and itching, is its exceptionally high capacity to bind wound secretions. This naturally binds the infectious secretions from the cold sores – effectively drying out the blisters . This inhibits the spread of the virus and accelerates the healing process. Once the gel has dried , a white surface may form. This is a sign that the cold sores are drying out.

Indications

Sikapur® med Cold Sore Gel is for external use

to relieve burning and itching associated with cold sores (herpes labialis)
to support the healing process

Directions for use

Apply Sikapur® med Cold Sore Gel to a standard cotton bud or a clean fingertip and gently dab the affected areas of skin.

Method and duration of use

Children and adults: As required, from the first signs of an outbreak, dabSikapur® med Cold Sore Gel onto the affected areas of skin up to 5 times a day until the blisters have completely healed.
If treatment is unsuccessful, consult a doctorafter 10 daysat the latest .

Ingredients

Active ingredient: 5 g of Sikapur® med Cold Sore Gel contain 4.7 g of silica gel (silicon gel).

Other ingredients: pentylene glycol, carrageenan, α-bisabolol, potassium sorbate, citric acid solution
