The active principle

Viruses are almost always the cause of colds and they mainly enter our bodies via the nose and throat.
Carravir® Protect can be used against these tiny intruders, as the ingredient carragelose forms a physical barrier that prevents viruses from entering. This prevents the mucosal cells from becoming infected with the viruses and using them to multiply.

When is CARRAVIR® PROTECT used?

Used for the prevention and supportive treatment of virus-related infections of the upper respiratory tract such as the common cold and colds as well as SARS-CoV-2.
Can shorten the duration of a cold, alleviate cold symptoms and reduce their flare-up or reducethe risk of a new infection.
Used for the preventive and prolonged moisturisation of the nasal mucosa and thus for the prophylaxis and supportive treatment of all complaints resulting from dry or irritated nasal mucosa.
Used to moisturise the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat, e.g. for coughs, hoarseness or dry air.
Helps in the prevention and supportive treatment of all complaints caused by dry or irritated mucous membranes in the mouth and throat , e.g. caused by smoking, prolonged speaking or singing.

What are the properties of CARRAVIR® PROTECT?

Runny nose and colds are mainly caused by viruses that usually enter the body through the nose and mouth. Once they have entered the nasal and/or throat area, they can attach themselves to the mucous membrane, penetrate the surrounding mucous membrane cells, multiply and spread again. This results in typical cold symptoms such as a blocked or runny nose, sore throat and/or headache, cough, etc.

A moist nasal, oral and pharyngeal mucosa supports the natural defence against viruses and environmental influences. However, the filter function of the nose, i.e. the retention of particles present in the air we breathe (viruses, dust, etc.) can only be fulfilledby a moist nasal mucosa with a functioning, healthy ciliated epithelium.

A dry and irritated nasal, oral and pharyngeal mucosa can be the result of general air pollution and frequent exposure to places with low relative humidity, such as heated or air-conditioned rooms, cars, trains or aeroplanes. Both factors - air pollution and low humidity - cause the nasal, oral and pharyngeal mucosa to dry out. Heavy use of the throat, e.g. through smoking, prolonged speaking or singing, can also cause the oral and pharyngeal mucosa to dry out . This often results in coughing, hoarseness or a sore throat.

Carravir® Protect contains Carragelose®, a substance obtained from marine red algae , which has a doubly positive effect:

CARRARVIR® PROTECT forms a protective barrier against cold viruses. colds are caused by a large number of different types of virus, such as rhinoviruses and coronaviruses . carragelose® non-specifically envelops these cold viruses, preventing them from attaching to the mucous membrane. The multiplication and spread of cold viruses that infect the respiratory tract is reduced. The non-specific viral envelopment by Carragelose® has also been shown to be similar to that of cold viruses for SARS-CoV-2 in vitro . Even if Carravir® Protect does not completely prevent infection with SARS-CoV-2 , it can greatly reduce the risk of infection and virus spread.
Carravir® Protect forms a moisturising protective film which, thanks to Carragelose® , remains on the nasal, oral and pharyngeal mucosa for longer and acts as a physical barrier against external influences. The natural defence against viruses is supported.

How to use

Daily dosage for prevention (per nostril and if required in the throat):

Adults: 3 x 2 sprays
Children: 3 x 1 spray

Daily dosage at the first signs of a cold (per nostril and, if necessary, in the throat):

Adults: 3 x 2 sprays
Children: 3 x 1 spray

Treatment should be started as soon as possible after the first cold symptoms appear and continued until they subside .

Daily dosage to moisturise the mucous membrane (per nostril and into the throat if required):

Adults: as required
Children: as required

Ingredients

Carravir® Protect is a clear, colourless, viscous solutionwithout odour.

1 ml solution contains 1.2 mg iota-carrageenan (Carragelose®), sodium chloride and purified water.
