Seewald Ortho L-Arginine Plus Capsules are a dietary supplement with a combination of the amino acid L-arginine, thiamine (vitamin B1) and vitamin C.

Semi-essential amino acids such as L-arginine can be produced by the body itself, but various factors can lead to the body's own production requiring support. The L-arginine used is obtained by means of natural fermentation and is therefore also suitable for a vegan lifestyle.

L-arginine is an amino acid that plays a key role in the body's metabolism. It is important for the formation of nitric oxide, for the dilation of blood vessels and for blood circulation. The origin of the name L-arginine lies in the Latin word "argentum", which means "silver".

L-arginine is a basic amino acid, just like L-lysine and L-histidine. The amino acid ornithine can be synthesised from L-arginine. Ornithine is a precursor for the formation of spermine and spermidine, two polyamines that occur in high concentrations in the seminal fluid and have important functions in the stabilisation of DNA and cell division.

Thiamine, also known as vitamin B1, is a water-soluble vitamin that plays an important role in normal energy metabolism. It supports the conversion of carbohydrates into energy and makes an important contribution to the normal function of nerve and muscle cells as well as the heart.

Vitamin C as patented Ester-C® is pH-neutral, rapidly absorbable and highly bioavailable. It maintains a constant vitamin C level over 24 hours and is particularly well tolerated. Vitamin C is involved in collagen formation for normal blood vessel function, contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress and supports normal energy metabolism. It also contributes to the normal function of the nervous system and the psyche and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Vitamin C increases the absorption of iron and helps to regenerate the reduced form of vitamin E.

The prefix L in the name of the amino acid refers to its biochemical structure. Only L-forms of amino acids are found in the proteins in the human body.
